Rolling Not Slipping - Geometric Physics Art Canvas Print

$33.00

"While the force-free gyroscope is spinning, Poinsot's ellipsoid is rolling without slipping!".

Canvas print created from a photo of the original drawing (created 2026 on technical drawing paper).

The sides of the thick canvas frame show the artwork mirrored and distorted. The canvas is stretched over a 1.25inch (3cm) thick wooden frame, ready to hang (hanging hardware included).

Available in three sizes - see the images showing the prints on a white brick wall to assess the size! The medium size is equal to the size of the original artwork (A3).

Height x Width
9" x 12" - 23cm x 30,5cm
12" x 16" - 30,5cm x 41cm
18" x 24" - 46cm x 61cm

I am using traditional descriptive geometry to depict the ellipsoid moving from the yellow stage to red and then to blue, rolling along the invariable plane while the point of contact traces out a circle.

Graphite pencil construction enhanced with watercolor pencils (used mainly without water) and black fine liner.

The distortion effects on the canvas sides have been added manually with a digital pen.
