Inspired by antique technical drawings, MC Escher's art and Sir Roger Penrose's hand-crafted physics illustrations, I aim at creating scientific visualizations that could - or should - be mistaken for engimatic abstract art that stands on its own.

I have worked on superconductors, heat pumps, and public key infrastructures. Software development has been part of all my jobs. Now I am also funneling all of that into my art!
My name is Elke Stangl, and elkement is an amalgam of my first name and my long-term internet alias (Subversive) Element.
My art has been exhibited at the 2024 Mathematical Art Digital Exhibition at Queens College, New York.
Formal education: MSc/PhD in applied physics, MSc in renewable energy engineering.
Informal education: Life-long tinkering with software and websites.
Education I never figured I would need one day: High-school classes in traditional descriptive geometry.
